

Aren Eggon has conferred the title of Iyan Eggon on Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu in recognition of his contributions to the advancement of democracy in Nasarawa State.
Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I. who bestowed the title on Wadada during his visit to the palace in Nasarawa Eggon on Friday, urged him to prioritize the welfare of the people if elected Governor of Nasarawa State in 2027. He described Wadada as a son of the Aren Eggon Palace, noting that the title of Iyan Eggon was fitting and well deserved.
The traditional ruler also called for peace and prayed for Senator Wadada’s emergence as governor in 2027.
Earlier, Senator Wadada said he visited the palace to seek the royal blessings of the Aren Eggon and assured him that, if elected governor, he would protect and uphold the interests of traditional institutions in the state. He thereafter presented his scorecard and “Heart Agenda” to the Aren Eggon.
Senator Wadada, during a town hall meeting with stakeholders of Nasarawa Eggon, called on the people of Nasarawa state to eschewed politics based on ethnicity and religion, stating that such divisive politics are outdated. He noted that no religion forbids interaction among people of different faiths or tribes, adding that modern societal advancements have made politics of religion and ethnicity old-fashioned.
He called on the Eggon nation to rally behind him to ensure he emerges as the Governor of Nasarawa State in 2027, in the interest of peace, unity, and progress of the state.
Speaking at the stakeholders’ meeting, Alhaji Ishaku Abdullahi, former Executive Director of the NNPCL and Dangaladiman Eggon Worldwide; Barrister Halilu Evulanza, the Makama Eggon; as well as Mohammed Muluku, all echoed Senator Wadada’s position on politics of religion and ethnicity, describing such politics as counterproductive.
They praised the qualities and leadership capacity of Senator Wadada, saying he is the most qualified person to succeed Governor Abdullahi Sule in 2027.
