The All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate for Nasarawa State, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, has applauded the administration of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule for its sustained investment in sports development, describing the triumph of Nasarawa Amazons Football Club in the 2026 Women’s President Federation Cup as a clear testament to the state’s commitment to nurturing sporting talent.
Senator Wadada stated this while congratulating the club on its historic victory, saying the achievement has brought pride and honour to the people of Nasarawa State.
In a congratulatory message, the APC governorship candidate commended the players, coaching crew, management and supporters of the club for their resilience, determination and fighting spirit, which saw them defeat Heartland Queens 6–5 on penalties after a 1–1 draw in regulation time at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, to lift the prestigious trophy.
He noted that the victory reflects the abundant sporting potential in Nasarawa State and demonstrates what can be achieved through hard work, discipline and teamwork.
Senator Wadada also congratulated the Chairperson of the club, Hajiya Husaina Sulieman Nagogo; the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu; the technical crew; and the management for providing the leadership that inspired the team’s remarkable success.
He further celebrated the outstanding individual performances recorded by the club during the competition, particularly Ayatsea Hembafan, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, and Udoka Unachukwu, who emerged as the Best Goalkeeper.
The APC governorship candidate urged the Nasarawa Amazons to remain focused and continue to serve as worthy ambassadors of Nasarawa State, expressing confidence that the team would record even greater achievements in future competitions.
