The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 Nasarawa State election, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, has congratulated Mrs. Juliana Ose Ofoku on her election as the Chairperson of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nasarawa State Council.
In a congratulatory message issued on Monday in Lafia, Senator Wadada described Ofoku’s emergence through what he called a keenly contested and credible democratic process as a reflection of the confidence reposed in her leadership qualities, professional experience, and unwavering commitment to the journalism profession by members of the union.
He noted that Ofoku’s election as the first democratically elected female Chairperson of the NUJ in Nasarawa State marks a significant milestone in the history of the council, expressing optimism that her achievement would inspire more women and young professionals to pursue leadership positions.
The senator also commended members of the NUJ for conducting what he described as a peaceful, transparent, and credible election, saying the exercise further strengthened the democratic ideals of the union.
He extended his congratulations to all the newly elected executives of the council and urged them to work collectively in advancing professionalism, ethical journalism, unity, and the welfare of journalists across Nasarawa State.
Expressing confidence in the new chairperson’s ability to lead, Senator Wadada said her administration would promote inclusiveness, strengthen collaboration among media practitioners, and contribute meaningfully to the growth of journalism as well as the overall development of Nasarawa State.
He wished Mrs. Ofoku and the newly elected executive council a successful and impactful tenure.
