Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the 2027 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State, has received the Outstanding Lawmaker of the Year award at the Daily Times Heroes Awards.
Wadada was honoured alongside Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, who received the Outstanding Governor, North Central award, at a ceremony held on Thursday at the ThisDay Dome in Abuja.
The Daily Times Heroes Awards, themed “Honouring the Past, Shaping the Future,” brought together prominent Nigerians from the political, media, banking and business sectors.
Chairman of Folio Communications, publishers of Daily Times, Mr Fidelis Anosike, said the awards were part of efforts to recognise Nigerians who have distinguished themselves through their contributions to national development.
Anosike also noted that Daily Times, which is marking its 100th anniversary, was using the milestone to celebrate Nigeria’s history, culture and politics through extensive documentation.
As part of the celebration, the company presented a landmark publication titled Nigeria’s Grand Book, documenting major aspects of the country’s history and development.
The event was attended by notable personalities, including former President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, who delivered the keynote address.
Media personalities, bankers and industry leaders were also present at the ceremony, which celebrated individuals whose contributions, according to the organisers, continue to shape Nigeria’s present and future.
