Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for Nasarawa State, has challenged political office seekers to demonstrate their past contributions to their communities before asking the people for their trust and support.
Wadada made the call in Doma Local Government Area of the state on Saturday, saying no one should be handed the trust of the people without first showing what they have done for the community.
The senator said anyone seeking public office and the support of the electorate should be able to point to concrete achievements or interventions that have contributed to the development of the people.
According to him, extending political trust without evidence of previous service amounts to trusting blindly.
Wadada spoke while receiving four branded vehicles donated by Hon. Joseph Attah and more than 45 support groups in Doma to support his campaign mobilisation and logistics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He expressed appreciation to the support groups and leaders across the APC, including President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abdullahi Sule and other party candidates, describing the forthcoming election as an opportunity to pursue the collective progress of Nasarawa State rather than personal ambition.
The APC governorship candidate thanked the people of Doma for their continued support and said his campaign would remain focused on issues, service and the overall development of the state.
He also urged APC candidates and supporters to work together as the party prepares for the 2027 elections.
Also speaking at the event, Hon. Hassan Nalaraba, member representing Awe/Doma/Keana Federal Constituency and APC candidate for Nasarawa South Senatorial District, urged voters to carefully scrutinise candidates before deciding whom to support.
Nalaraba said voters should hold every aspirant accountable by asking what the person had achieved for the people before extending their support.
The Deputy Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Oyanki, said the APC’s record in the state included infrastructure projects, job creation and welfare interventions, particularly in Doma.
Oyanki urged voters to support APC candidates across the ballot in the 2027 general election.
In his remarks, Hon. Joseph Attah, Doma Local Government Area coordinator for the Wadada project, said the four vehicles were provided for mobilisation and logistics ahead of the campaign.
Attah, who is also Special Adviser on Information and Orientation to Governor Abdullahi Sule, said more than 45 support groups had declared their support for Wadada’s governorship ambition as well as other APC candidates.
Earlier, the Chairman of Doma Local Government Area, Hon. Jonathan Okuba Addra (JP), said the people of the council would support APC candidates in the 2027 elections.
Addra said Wadada had made his impact felt in Doma, particularly during difficult periods, and expressed confidence in the continued support of the people for his candidacy.
