A recurrent question from supporters of former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu is: Where is the scorecard of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada?
This question is being repeated with increasing frequency as political activities ahead of the 2027 governorship election gather momentum in Nasarawa State. The latest instance came from Yahaya Kana Ismaila, a constituent of the Nasarawa West Senatorial District, whose Facebook post on September 20, 2026, was amplified by Nasarawa Mirror. Under the headline “Constituent Challenges Wadada to Show Scorecard in Nasarawa West,” the publication reported Ismaila’s demand that Senator Wadada account for his stewardship in the Senate.
According to the report, Ismaila was reacting to a recent call by Senator Wadada urging opposition figures to show what they have done for the people. His response was that those demanding accountability from others should also account for their own records.
Fair enough. But if this question is being asked in the spirit of accountability, then it should not stop with Senator Wadada. There is another question that deserves an equally serious answer: WHERE IS THE SCORECARD OF FORMER IGP MOHAMMED ABUBAKAR ADAMU? The scorecard in the interest of citizens of Nasarawa State.
Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada did not begin his public career in 2023. Available records show that he entered the House of Representatives in 2003, representing the Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency and served two terms from 2003 to 2011. He subsequently held a senior advisory position within the Federal Capital Territory Administration and later served as the Chairman of PAN Nigeria Limited before returning to elective politics as the Senator for Nasarawa West in 2023.
Therefore, anyone asking for “Wadada’s scorecard” should not restrict their inquiry to the period starting in 2023. His public record should be examined comprehensively from 2003 to the present. When done objectively, there is considerably more substance to examine than current political arguments suggest.
HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES AND THE SENATE
Between 2003 and 2011, during his tenure in the House of Representatives for Keffi, Karu and Kokona, Wadada left a significant legislative footprint. Among the bills attributed to his House years are the Tobacco Control Bill, the Federal Capital Territory Development Agency Bill, the Chartered Institute of Capital Market Registration Bill and the Investments and Securities Tribunal Bill, alongside other capital-market-related legislation. Contemporary reporting also records key motions he sponsored regarding the Nigerian Stock Exchange, NNPC transactions and critical security concerns affecting his constituents.
In addition, his current tenure in the Senate provides a measurable, verifiable record. The official Senate Order Paper confirms that on October 4, 2023, Wadada sponsored the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria Amendment Bill (seeking to establish the Federal College of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences at Umaisha in Toto Local Government Area). He also introduced the Audit Service Bill, the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission Amendment Proposal, the Federal Airports Authority Amendment Proposal, a bill concerning the National Productivity Centre, the proposed FCT Satellite Towns Development Commission Bill and a proposal to upgrade the Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa to a Federal University of Mining, Engineering and Technology, among many others.
Data extracted from the Order Paper ranked Wadada among the senators with the highest number of sponsored bills during the first year of the 10th National Assembly, recording 10 sponsored bills between June 2023 and May 2024.
WHAT ABOUT NASARAWA WEST?
This is perhaps the core of the present challenge, as Ismaila specifically asks what Wadada has achieved for the senatorial district he currently represents in the Senate.
That question deserves an evidence-based answer. Official records reveal widespread interventions covering roads, water supply, electricity, solar lighting, health facilities, education, agriculture, empowerment and social support. For example, a September 2024 report documented the installation of 134 solar street lights and 10 boreholes across various communities in Nasarawa West, spanning locations in Karu, Keffi, Kokona, Nasarawa and Toto Local Government Areas. The same report identified the delivery of a primary healthcare centre at Igah in Loko, Nasarawa LGA.
EDUCATION: FROM WAEC TO NABTEB
Educational interventions attributed to the Senator include the provision of ₦25 million for 2023 WAEC registration fees, benefiting 744 students across 97 secondary schools in Nasarawa West. It also records another ₦25 million for the 2024 NABTEB registration of 500 students. Furthermore, available records show the comprehensive distribution of exercise books to primary schools across all 13 local government areas of Nasarawa State.
EMPOWERMENT AND ECONOMIC INTERVENTIONS
The broad empowerment programmes credited to the Senator Wadada Empowerment Scheme are enormous. Verified items distributed include:

Across the Western Senatorial Zone, Senator Wadada successfully secured employment placements for one hundred and twenty-two (122) individuals across diverse public and private sectors. While the list is extensive, providing these evidence-based details is necessary for the sake of absolute accountability.

STATE-WIDE WELFARE AND AGRICULTURAL INTERVENTIONS
Distributed 7,653 bags of 25kg rice to 260 churches, various interest groups, political party officials and security agencies across Nasarawa State.
Disbursed ₦30,000 cash packages each to 290 key stakeholders across the 13 Local Government Areas of Nasarawa State as part of the 2025 Christmas welfare initiative.
Distributed 3,000 bags of 50kg fertilizer to local farmers across the Nasarawa West Senatorial District to boost seasonal agricultural yields.
