Wadada 2027: Welcoming Lafia’s Political appointees Collective Decision.

By Rayyanu Bala

In one of my articles published by Nasarawa Eye Online on 13 October 2026, titled “2027: Let’s All Strive to Make Governor Sule the Happiest Person,” I charged all Governor Sule’s political appointees, as well as all APC members, to demonstrate their capacity and willingness to contribute practically to the success of the Wadada–Ombugadu ticket in their respective wards.

I emphasised that the only way to make Governor Sule the happiest person in 2027 is to ensure the victory of the Wadada–Ombugadu ticket and all APC candidates, from top to bottom. Thank God, the political appointees in Lafia have taken up the gauntlet and are determined to ensure that Lafia is delivered to Senator Wadada.

The decision by appointees of Governor Abdullahi A. Sule from Lafia Local Government Area to work collectively towards delivering Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections is a welcome development. It sends a strong message about the importance of unity, political commitment, and collective responsibility in achieving a common goal.

Under the leadership of Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, Jarumin Lafia, the appointees have demonstrated, in their meeting in Lafia yesterday, a willingness to rally behind Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu and mobilize support across Lafia and beyond. Their promise to embark on house-to-house sensitization, market-to-market engagement, and community outreach is a step in the right direction.

Indeed, politics is not won by declarations alone. It requires commitment, consistency, grassroots engagement, and, above all, a team that understands the value of working together. If the appointees are serious about their pledge, their collective resolve could become an important asset to the APC as preparations for 2027 gather momentum.

However, while their decision deserves commendation, there is one important issue that must not be overlooked: selfishness, internal bickering, and personal ambition must be put aside if this collective goal is to be achieved.

It is easy for political stakeholders to gather in a meeting, make bold declarations, and promise electoral victory. The real test comes when individual interests clash with the collective interest. It is at that point that political maturity, discipline, and genuine loyalty become necessary.

The truth is that no political movement can achieve lasting success when its members are busy competing against one another, nursing grudges, or fighting over personal recognition and political relevance. A house divided against itself cannot effectively convince others to join its cause.

For the Lafia appointees, the message should therefore be clear: if the goal is to deliver Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and other APC candidates in 2027, then everyone must be prepared to make sacrifices. No single individual should consider himself bigger than the collective mission. No personal disagreement should be allowed to undermine the group’s common objective, and no selfish interest should take precedence over the success of the party.

Hon. Aminu Muazu Maifata, as the leader of the group, has an important role to play in this regard. Beyond mobilization and political coordination, he must continue to foster mutual respect, fairness, inclusion, and understanding among the appointees. Leadership is not only about giving directives; it is also about bringing people together, managing differences, and ensuring that everyone feels valued and committed to the same purpose.

Similarly, the appointees must understand that supporting Senator Wadada’s ambition should not be reduced to slogans, public declarations, or social media campaigns. Their commitment must be reflected in their conduct, their relationships with one another, and their willingness to work for the collective interest, even when doing so requires personal compromise.

If they truly believe that Senator Wadada has the experience, competence, and capacity to lead Nasarawa State, as they have declared, then they must demonstrate that belief through constructive engagement with the people. They must listen to the concerns of the electorate, explain their candidate’s vision, and build genuine relationships with communities across Lafia. The people must be persuaded through credible arguments, respectful engagement, and a clear understanding of what Wadada intends to offer the state.

It is equally important that the appointees appreciate the significance of their relationship with Governor Abdullahi A. Sule. The governor’s leadership and the opportunities given to them to serve should inspire them to demonstrate responsibility, discipline, and a commitment to the broader interests of the state and the party. However, such loyalty must be expressed through meaningful political engagement rather than mere declarations of allegiance.

More importantly, Lafia must not only aspire to lead in delivering votes; it must also lead by example in political organization, peaceful engagement, and internal cohesion. If the appointees can maintain unity among themselves, they will be better positioned to engage other stakeholders, reconcile differences, and build a stronger political structure ahead of the elections.

The 2027 general elections may still be ahead, but the work of building confidence, strengthening relationships, and organizing at the grassroots level cannot be postponed until the last minute. This is the time to turn promises into action and enthusiasm into a coordinated effort.

The collective decision by Governor Sule’s appointees from Lafia to support Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada and other APC candidates is a positive development that deserves encouragement. But the success of that decision will depend less on the words spoken at the meeting and more on what the appointees do afterward.

They must remember that unity is not merely a slogan to be repeated at political gatherings. It is a commitment that must be demonstrated through patience, sacrifice, mutual respect, and a willingness to place the common goal above personal interests.

If Lafia is to play the leading role as its political stakeholders envision, then selfishness must give way to service, bickering must give way to dialogue, and division must give way to unity.
