NSG Expresses Readiness To Open Up Farin Ruwa To Boost Tourism

The Nasarawa State government said it is awarding a contract for the construction of an 18km road that will open up the Farin Ruwa waterfalls to tourists.
This was made known by the state governor, Engineer Abdullahi .A. Sule while addressing national officials of the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN), led by its National President, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, who are on a courtesy call at the Government House on Wednesday.
Engineer Sule disclosed further that his administration has just obtained quotations for the job and will award the contract in order to open up the area for tourism and to show case the abundant natural endowments of the state.
Commenting on the significance of the film industry to national development, the governor noted that throughout the developed world, the film industry has always been a partner of government, especially in countries that have challenges and crisis such as Nigeria.
“I had the opportunity to see Niagara Falls and in Nasarawa State, if you go to a place called Farin Ruwa, you will think you’re actually in Niagara Falls. A lot of people don’t know something like that exists,” Engineer Sule said.
The governor said the AGN can take advantage of the tourism potentials of Farin Ruwa to establish a film village in the area, stressing that he is willing to approach wealthy philanthropists such as Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Tony Elumelu, among others, to facilitate the setting up a film village in Farin Ruwa.
He promised to partner with the guild towards educating the people on the activities of government.
Earlier in his opening remark, National President of the AGN, Ejezie Emeka Rollas, said they were in the state to identify with the governor’s transformational agenda, especially youth empowerment, which the guild believed, will make Nasarawa State a strong, prosperous state.
Rollas sought partnership of the state government on the use of films to showcase the activities of government while also urging the governor to create enabling environment for the guild to carry out its activities in the state.
He said the guild is poised to discover and empower teeming youths of the state who are interested in the entertainment industry.
The AGN national president was accompanied on the visit by renowned Nollywood and Kannywood actors like Alhaji Sani Danja, Mrs. Blesding Audu, Nasarawa State Chairman of the AGN, Dr. Alex Osifo, Chief Zeburdaya and Keppi Ekpenyong Bassey, among others.
