Gov Sule Felicitates With Muslim Umma On 2020 Eid-El-Fitr

By Our Reporter. The Governor of Nasarawa state Engr Abdullah Sule has felicitated with Muslim ummah in Nasarawa state on 2020 ed- el- Fitr sallah celebrations. A statement personally signed by the governor reads in part: “For the past Thirty days, today Saturday, Muslims all over the world have observed the fast in the sacred month of Ramadan in compliance with the Islamic injunction”. “As you are all aware, fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam aimed at strengthening our faith through spiritual engagements such as abstinence from eating, drinking and satisfying other desires from sunset to dawn. It also involves intense prayers, recitation and interpretation of the Holy Qur’an, as well as increased acts of kindness, charity and humility, among other moral virtues” the statement observedIt continued: “As we come to the end of this year’s Ramadan fast, therefore, I, on behalf of the Government and People of Nasarawa State, felicitate with all Muslim faithful in the State as we join millions of Nigerians and other brethren across the globe to mark the 2020 Eid-el-Fitr (Sallah) celebration. I implore all Muslims to remain steadfast in applying the virtues of Ramadan through sustained supplication, hospitality and good neighbourliness. The spirit of sharing in our daily activities should be sacrosanct. All good citizens of Nasarawa State should continue to pray for the peace, security and economic prosperity of the State”The statement further stressed “Let me re-echo my call to the people of Nasarawa State to be law abiding and live peacefully with one another. Government will not condone any acts capable of breaching the existing peace prevailing in our society and will deal decisively with any individual(s) or groups whose stock in trade is to perpetuate crime, criminality and fan embers of disunity among the diverse ethnic nationalities in the State. Let us all put hands together individually and collectively to contribute our parts towards the sustenance of peace and security in our dear State.”While using this opportunity to empathize with our Muslim Ummah for the obvious restriction imposed on certain religious rites associated with the holy month of Ramadan, particularly, the Ramadan Tafsir, congregational prayers and other spiritual activities worthy of attracting rewards, the statement emphasized however that the action taken by government was not in any way intended to deprive our Muslim brothers and sisters for communing with Almighty Allah Subhanahu Wata’Ala during this sacred month of Ramadan”. It stressed “The action was taken to protect lives of our people during this pandemic, hence the temporary restriction which has now being relaxed for the period of two (2) weeks in the first instance” . “I implore the people of Nasarawa State to be guided by the guidelines issued, particularly, maintenance of social distancing, wearing of face mask, regular hand sanitizing, among other preventive measures as part of preventive measures to control and contain the spread of Coronavirus for the wellbeing of the society”The statement which beseeched all Muslims to re-affirm their obedience to Allah’s injunctions as contained in the noble Qur’an and follow the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam). It also emphasized that it is an obligation on us to pray for our leaders at all levels to govern with the fear of God and the virtues of justice, humility and service for the good of humanity. While calling for greater vigilance to ensure a safe neighbourhood for harmonious co-existence, the further took the liberty of this spiritual occasion to thank the people of Nasarawa State for their support and prayer towards the prosperity of this Administration thus far. “As we continue to enhance the socio-economic fortunes of our people, I appeal for your support and cooperation in our determination to take our dear State to the “Next Level”.

I also call on the Federal Road Safety Commission and other security agencies to continue to be vigilant during this festive period and also intensify efforts in controlling traffic to safeguard lives and property of the citizens.
