NSHA Speaker Hails Buhari On Financial Autonomy For State Legislature, Judiciary

By Our ReporterThe Speaker, Nasarawa State House of Assembly Rt.Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi has commended President Muhammadu Buhari for signing an Executive order Number 10 of 2020 for the implementation of financial autonomy of state Houses of Assembly and Judiciary for good governance and accountability.The speaker gave the commendation while reacting to the granting of financial autonomy by President Buhari to the state legislature and judiciary.Balarabe Abdullahi said that the autonomy would go along way in enhancing legislative and judicial activities, effective service delivering,good governance and accountability.” I received the news of the signing of an executive order by Mr President for the implementation of
financial autonomy of state Houses of Assembly and judiciary with joy.” Granting of the financial autonomy to the state legislature and judiciary is a good omen for the country and will go a long way in enhancing the functions of the institutions for good governance and accountability as well as strengthening democracy in the country.Speaker Balarabe who is the National Vice Chairman North Central,Nigeria Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures gave the president a part on the back for the wonderful step taken in deepening democracy in the country.”The president has further demonstrated that he is a democrat who have the interest of the country at heart,it is in view of this that I want to sincerely commend him for this wonderful gesture and proactive step taken,The Nasarawa State Number One lawmaker called on the people of the state and Nigierans to pray and give their maximum support to President Buhari and Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s administrations to enable them succeed in the task ahead of them.He added that every leader need the prayers and support of his people to succeed , hence the need of his call in that direction.The speaker assured of the assembly’s commitment to continued to partner with the executive arm in order to ensure speedy development in the state.It would be recalled that on Friday, May 22, President Muhammadu Buhari has signed into law Executive Order No. 10 of 2020 for the implementation of Financial Autonomy of State Legislature and State judiciary.The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN) who disclosed this in a statement said the exercise took place on Friday.The statement which was issued by his Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations, Dr. Umar Gwandu, explained that the action of the president was in exercise of his constitutional duties.
