Federal Character Commissioner, Barr Mamman Alkayi Advise States On Balance Recruitment

The Commissionr representing Nasarawa State at the Federal Character Commission Barr. Mamman Alakayi has called on the Employing Agencies in Nasarawa State to comply with the Federal Character Comission’s guideline in recruitments process into the state public service.
The commissioner explained that, some section of the 1919 constitutions of Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended have empowered the FCC to enforce the complaints to all employing agencies both at states and the federal levels to get the approval from the commission before embarcking any recruitments process,so as to ensure that, appoiintment into the public service be evenly or equitably represente by all citizens
Mamman Alakayi who revealed this,when he led a team from the state office of the commission to the members and management staff of Nasarawa State Civil Service Commission recently, as part of their continuation sensitization visit to all employing agencies in the state, warned that, failure to comply to this directives or the extent law, is amount to criminal act, and the commission was empowered to sanction any agency violated the provision.
According to him, the Federal Character Commission has two cardinal mandates, which he said to included, the equitable distribution of appointments of all cadres in government agencies of the federation including the police, the army and other security agents, saying it was clearly stated in the constitution.
The commissioner further stated that, the commission’s mandate was also to ensure the equitable distribution of economic and social facilities across the federated unit of the country.
He said, the commission visit was on connected with that of provision of the constitution which mandated the FCC to oversees the recruitment process at the States level which has not been brought to the knowledge of all state employing agencie, stressing the need for employing agencies in the state to complying with the provision of the constitution.
Mamman Alakayi informed his hosts that, plan was on the way to organize workshop with a view to having an interface with chief executives of employing agencies in the state so as to esensitize them on how the Federal Character Commission interwoven with the state employing agencies in the event of recruitments exercise.
Responding, the CSC Chairman, Musa Dangana Giza commanded the FCC Commissioner and his team for the visit, saying, their visit to the CSC has kept them inform on the roles of FCC with the state employing agencies, adding that the CSC which was saddled with the responsibility of recruiting, promotion, confirmation and retirement of state civil servants has keying into the FCC guidelines on equitable distribution of appointments.
Dangana emphatically posited that, the recent employments of Admin. Officers into the state civil service, cut across the 13 Local Government Areas in the state reflected Federal Character Commission principle, assured his guests that, CSC was already implemented some of the conditions given by the FCC.
He then appealed to the Commissioner to look into the issues of under representing of Nsarawa State indigents into federal agencies, with a view to addressing them.
