
Nasarawa State Ministry of Education has expressed satisfaction with the performance and character of the state’s contingents at the just concluded education, entertainment and sporting events held in Bauchi , kwara and Abuja respectively.
State Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Fatu Jimaita Sabo made this known during the Award presentation/reception organized by the Ministry in honour of the contingents who won laurels at the competition.

Speaking at the ceremony, Sabo said “as government continued to prioritize education, we are not just interested in academics but also in character and in developing character extra curricular activities come to play. What we are seeing today are those extra curricular activities that are going on in our schools all towards building the whole person, moulding our students to be responsible persons in our society and are happy that we are going out there for national competition to make us proud not only to come back home with trophy and accolades, but you go there to show exemplary behaviour and character.”

Going forward, the Ministry participated at the 22nd edition of Nestle Milo National Basketball Championship for Secondary School students in Ilorin, where Nasarawa State female contingents were adjudged the most displined team and awarded with the ‘fair play trophy’.
Similarly, The Ministry also participated at the 36th edition of the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition held in Bauchi, where the state’s contingents competed in all the six categories and Maimuna Ahmad Mai Addua from GG Doma emerged second position female category. Fourth categories went home with cash prizes of seven hundred and fifty thousand naira (N750,000) and other members won consolation prizes.
Also the state participated at Bible Quiz Competition where contingents also won prizes.
The Commissioner said, ” We are concerned about your moral that is why the religious aspect of curriculum will continue to receive attention and we will continue to ensure that you have teachers in that discipline that will continue to mould you both in character and learning”.
ECWA Secondary School, doma beat 36 other contestants to emerged First Position for the second consecutive years at National French Drama Competition held in Abuja.
The Commissioner used the medium to announce the return of state Inter-Secondary School and Inter-Tertiary Sports Competition.
To this end, a committee has been constituted and is awaiting inauguration with a view to discovering talents that will represent the state and the nation at sporting events.
High point of the event was the presentation of prizes and trophy by the Hon Commissioner to victorious contingents.
