A former Accountant General of Nasarawa State and governorship aspirant in the 2027 election Dr. Ahmed Musa Mohammed, Baraden Nasarawa, has said he has accepted what he described as “the will of Allah” following Governor Abdullahi Sule’s decision to endorse Ahmed Wadada Aliyu as his preferred candidate.
Speaking on Thursday in Lafia when a group of his supporters paid him a visit, Baraden Nasarawa said the governor had earlier met aspirants from Nasarawa West and urged them to either agree on a consensus candidate or present three names for him to choose from.
According to him, the aspirants collectively declined to pick a single consensus candidate, insisting instead that Governor Sule should make the final decision, while all pledged to support whoever he selected.
He said Governor Sule has now chosen Wadada, adding that the decision should be respected as the will of God.
“The governor in his first meeting with us asked us to go and agree among ourselves to bring one name or at most three for him to select one. We all said he should pick one himself, and we all pledged to support whoever he chooses,” he said.
Baraden Nasarawa said he has accepted the outcome in good faith and urged his supporters to do the same, stressing that no one can question divine will.
He added that the political development serves as a reminder that “what Allah has decreed, no one can change,” and emphasized the uncertainty of tomorrow, calling for unity and acceptance among his supporters going forward.
Supporters who visited him reportedly expressed mixed emotions but were urged to remain calm and align with the governor’s decision as the political process continues ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
