Lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly have declared support for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada as the preferred successor to Governor Abdullahi Sule ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was announced by the Speaker of the House, Danladi Jatau, following the 11th caucus meeting of APC lawmakers held at the Assembly complex in Lafia.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Jatau said the lawmakers were united in their decision to back Wadada, describing it as a move aimed at strengthening party cohesion and ensuring continuity in governance.
According to him, the caucus deliberated on issues relating to unity, peace, and progress within the party, as well as the recent endorsement of Wadada by Governor Sule.
“We are united as APC lawmakers and will remain loyal to the party. We will follow the decision of His Excellency regarding his preferred successor,” Jatau said.
He commended Governor Sule’s leadership, noting that the administration had fostered development and maintained a strong working relationship among the arms of government in the state.
Jatau also called on other governorship aspirants within the APC to support Wadada, emphasizing the importance of unity ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We appeal to all aspirants to rally round the governor’s preferred candidate. This will strengthen the party and position it for victory,” he added.
The endorsement signals a growing consolidation within the Nasarawa APC as political alignments begin to take shape ahead of the next governorship race.
