Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu on Tuesday declared that his victory at the APC governorship primary election in Nasarawa state represents far more than personal success, describing it as a triumph for the people of Nasarawa State and a mandate for unity, progress, and development across the state.
Wadada made the declaration during a thank-you visit to Governor Abdullahi Sule at the Government House in Lafia, where political leaders and supporters gathered to celebrate what many described as a defining moment in the state’s political landscape.
“My victory is not just a victory for me alone; it is a victory for Nasarawa State, a victory for unity, a victory for progress, and a victory for development,” the Wadada stated.
The remarks underscored Wadada’s attempt to portray his victory as a collective achievement rather than a personal or partisan project. His speech conveyed a message of inclusion at a time when political divisions continue to shape conversations in many parts of the country.
Political observers say the senator’s choice of words reflects a growing recognition among leaders that governance must transcend political affiliations and focus more on delivering tangible benefits to citizens. By emphasizing unity and development, Wadada positioned himself as a bridge-builder committed to consolidating peace and accelerating socio-economic growth in the state.
The visit to Governor Sule also carried symbolic significance. In Nigerian politics, thank-you visits are not merely ceremonial gestures; they are opportunities to reaffirm political alliances, strengthen cooperation, and reassure supporters of continuity in governance and development efforts.
Many described the atmosphere during the visit as cordial, with both leaders expressing commitment to sustaining collaboration for the advancement of the state. The engagement further highlighted the importance of moving the state forward, prompting Governor Abdullahi Sule to reveal that he would not interfere in the running of Nasarawa State after handing over power to Senator Wadada.
For many residents of Nasarawa State, the statements made by both Governor Sule and Senator Wadada resonated as a call for collective responsibility. Their remarks further emphasized the importance of progress and development. Political analysts noted that the thank-you visit by Senator Wadada to Governor Sule rekindled the belief that “we have no state other than Nasarawa State. We must join hands and put our heads together to take Nasarawa to the promised land.” They added that all stakeholders must work together to ensure stability and growth in Nasarawa State.
Wadada’s visit therefore reinforced the importance of a united political front focused on consolidating the achievements of Engr. Abdullahi Sule beyond 2027.
