Senator Wadada Mourns Former Customs Controller, Governorship Aspirant Umaru Shehu Lafia

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Controller of Customs and one-time governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, Alhaji Umaru Shehu Lafia (Ajaja)

Ajaja died in the early hours of Tuesday in Jos after a prolonged illness.

In a condolence message made available to journalists, Senator Wadada described the late Ajaja as a respected elder statesman whose death represents a significant loss to his family, the people of Lafia, Nasarawa State, and the nation at large.

According to the senator, the deceased distinguished himself during his career in the Nigeria Customs Service and remained committed to public service even after retirement. He noted that Ajaja demonstrated dedication, integrity, patriotism, and an unwavering commitment to the development of society.

Wadada further stated that the late former governorship aspirant made valuable contributions to the growth of democracy and inspired many through his exemplary leadership and service to humanity.

“His wisdom, humility, and passion for the progress of our state will be greatly missed,” the senator said.

The lawmaker extended his condolences to the deceased’s three wives, children, relatives, friends, and the entire people of Lafia, praying for strength and comfort for the bereaved family during the difficult period.

While mourning his passing, Senator Wadada said Ajaja lived a life of service and left behind a legacy worthy of emulation.

He prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the deceased’s shortcomings, grants him Aljannatul Firdaus, and gives his family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Alhaji Umaru Shehu Ajaja was buried in Jos in accordance with Islamic rites.
