Democracy Day: Nasarawa Speaker Pays Tribute to Founding Fathers, Seeks Prayers for Nigeria

The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Danladi Jatau, has paid glowing tribute to Nigeria’s founding fathers as the nation commemorates the 27th Democracy Day celebration.
In a statement issued in Lafia by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna, the Speaker described June 12 as a unique and historic day in the nation’s democratic journey, noting that it remains worthy of celebration.
Dr. Jatau called on Nigerians to intensify prayers for the country to overcome its security, economic and other emerging challenges. He also urged citizens to continue supporting leaders and governments at all levels to enable them deliver more democratic dividends to the people.
The Speaker congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Governor Abdullahi Sule and all Nigerians on this year’s Democracy Day celebration.
According to him, the contributions and sacrifices of Nigeria’s founding fathers laid the foundation for the nation’s democratic growth and development, assuring that their efforts would never be forgotten.
Dr. Jatau reaffirmed the commitment of the 7th Nasarawa State House of Assembly to promote good governance and ensure that the people enjoy the benefits of democracy through effective legislation and oversight functions.
He further urged citizens to remain hopeful and continue to support government initiatives aimed at addressing the nation’s challenges and improving the welfare of the people.
The Speaker also appreciated members of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for their cooperation, understanding and support, pledging to sustain an inclusive leadership style. He assured that the Assembly would continue to partner with other arms of government to advance the development of the state and improve the lives of residents.
While thanking the people of Nasarawa State for their solidarity and support for the current administration, Dr. Jatau expressed optimism that better days lie ahead for the state and the nation.
He stressed the need for citizens to promote peace, unity and harmony, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences, noting that such values are essential for sustainable development and progress.
