Professor Mallam Al-Bishak of the Federal University of Lafia (FULafia) is set to deliver the institution’s 44th Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, with a focus on the influence of ancient Egyptian civilization on literature and classical scholarship.
The lecture, titled “Egyptology, Egyptomania and Khemetology: Literature and the Black African Literary Masters of Homer, Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Etc,” will be held at the MIS Multipurpose Hall, Permanent Site Campus of the university, beginning at 2 p.m.
According to a statement issued by the Inaugural Lecture Committee, the event will be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Lafia, Professor Mohammed Isa Kida, who extended an invitation to members of the public on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate and the university community.
The lecture is expected to examine the relationship between ancient Egyptian civilization, literature and the intellectual traditions associated with renowned classical scholars. The event will also feature a photo exhibition of ancient artifacts.
The committee noted that the inaugural lecture forms part of the university’s efforts to promote academic excellence, research and intellectual engagement.
A book presentation titled “Voices For Al-Bishak,” an anthology of poems edited by Ebika Anthony in honour of Professor Mallam Al-Bishak, will take place immediately after the lecture.
Academics, students, researchers and members of the public are expected to attend the event.
