Senate Passes Landmark State Police Bill as Senator Wadada Participates in Emergency Plenary

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu,  yesterday participated in a crucial emergency plenary session of the Senate, during which lawmakers considered and passed the landmark Bill for an Act to establish State Police across the Federation.
The historic legislation, designed to strengthen internal security and improve grassroots policing nationwide, was transmitted to the National Assembly as an Executive Bill by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR.
The bill’s passage marks a significant step in Nigeria’s ongoing efforts to address security challenges through a decentralized policing structure that empowers states to play a more active role in maintaining law and order.
During the plenary session, the Senate also witnessed the administration of the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance to four newly elected senators who were formally sworn into the Red Chamber. The new lawmakers are Senator Halilu Danladi Envulanza (APC, Nasarawa North), Senator Ikeje Asogwa (APC, Enugu North), Senator Dayo Fabuyile (APC, Ondo South), and Senator Olaka Nwogu (PDP, Rivers South-East).
On the sidelines of the session, Senator Wadada held cordial interactions with several top government officials, including the Chief of Staff to the President, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila; the Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani; the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun; and the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Aiyedatiwa.
Speaking through close associates, Senator Wadada reaffirmed his commitment to supporting legislative initiatives aimed at enhancing national security, promoting good governance, and advancing sustainable development for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The emergency plenary underscored the Senate’s continued focus on addressing critical national issues, with the passage of the State Police Bill widely regarded as one of the most consequential legislative actions in recent times.
