Akwanga-Jos Superhighway Construction Is About Securing Our Children’s Future-Wadada

Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has said the construction of the Akwanga–Jos Superhighway is an investment in the future of our children, stressing that the project will create opportunities for millions of citizens while driving economic growth and improving living standards.
Speaking during the official flag-off of Section I of the Akwanga–Jos Superhighway, the senator said the project goes beyond road construction, describing it as a strategic investment that would provide lasting benefits for generations to come.
“The construction of this superhighway is not just about building roads; it is about creating opportunities for millions of Nigerians. It is also about investing in the future of our children. It will provide farmers with easier access to markets, reduce transportation costs, stimulate commerce, create jobs, enhance the security of lives and property, and improve the overall quality of life of our people,” Wadada said.
He commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving and commencing the project, describing it as a landmark infrastructure investment that would transform lives, stimulate economic development and strengthen national unity.
The senator made the remarks at the official flag-off of the 125-kilometre Section I of the Akwanga–Jos Superhighway, the fourth of the President’s Legacy Projects. President Tinubu was represented at the ceremony by the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda.
Also present at the event were the Minister of Works, Senator David Nweze Umahi, members of the Federal Executive Council, lawmakers from the National Assembly and State Assemblies, as well as other dignitaries.
Wadada described the project as a historic milestone, noting that it marks the commencement of the 700-kilometre, six-lane Akwanga–Jos–Kaduna–Bauchi–Gombe–Biu–Maiduguri Superhighway, which he said would significantly improve connectivity, boost security and unlock economic opportunities across several states.
According to him, the commencement of construction fulfils a long-standing aspiration of the people of the affected states and neighbouring communities who had advocated for the project over the years.
He said the Federal Government’s commitment to delivering critical infrastructure demonstrates that the Renewed Hope Agenda is yielding tangible results across the country.
Wadada expressed confidence that, by the grace of God, the superhighway would become one of the enduring legacies of the Tinubu administration.
The senator also praised the Minister of Works, Senator David Nweze Umahi, for his dedication and commitment to the successful implementation of the Federal Government’s infrastructure development agenda nationwide.
