Two Former Nasarawa Speakers Meet in Lafia, Discuss Unity, Politics, Development

Former Speakers of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi and Rt. Hon. Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammad, on Tuesday held a closed-door meeting in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital, where they discussed issues bordering on unity, politics, and development.
The meeting took place at the office of the State Accountant General, Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammad, who received Balarabe Abdullahi, the immediate past Speaker of the State House of Assembly and current Chairman of the Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Damaturu, Yobe State.
Although details of the meeting were not disclosed, sources familiar with the discussion said the two leaders deliberated on matters relating to the unity of the state, the political landscape, and strategies for sustainable development, among other issues.
Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammad, popularly known as Baraden Nasarawa, served as Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for eight years during the Third and Fourth Assemblies from 2007 to 2015. He currently serves as the State Accountant General and is widely reported to be aspiring for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket ahead of the 2027 general election.
His guest, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, who holds the traditional title of Wali Opanda, served as Speaker of the Assembly for eight and a half years, presiding over the Fifth and Sixth Assemblies and the first five months of the Seventh Assembly between 2015 and 2023.
Political observers described the meeting as significant, coming at a time when political activities are beginning to gather momentum ahead of the 2027 elections.
The two political figures are influential leaders from the Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone, with Balarabe Abdullahi hailing from Toto Local Government Area and Dr. Musa Ahmed Muhammad from Nasarawa Local Government Area.
The meeting has fueled speculation about possible political alignments and consultations ahead of the next election election although neither leader commented on the outcome of their discussions.
