President Bola Ahmed Tinubu appointed two Nasarawa state indigenes into the recently announced multidisciplinary Policy Advisory Committee on State Police bill. Aside from the honour of having the revered Justice Mohammed Abdullahi Liman {retired)  as Chairman of the highly esteemed committee, there is another son of the soil on the list. He is Mohammed Maikudi.  The committee is composed of experts from various fields, including state attorneys-general.
 
According to an insider, “they tried to limit it (membership) to a maximum of one person per state but Nasarawa state was able to get two.  Retired Justice Liman a former judge of the Appeal court has a distinguished judicial career that cuts across constitutional law, public law and election litigation.
 
Mohammed Maikudi is a governance reform and evidence-based policy specialist with 20 years of experience across government, international development and the private sector. His police reform credentials include serving on the Ministry of Police Affairs’ Police Reform Committee and advising the Presidency’s Police Reform and Transformation Office. Maikudi  has  also worked extensively with the United Kingdom’s FCDO, the World Bank,  United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations  International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) and the Gates Foundation.
 
A cross section of Nasarawa state citizens commended President Tinubu  for the appointments, describing  them as merited. They are confident that the appointees will contribute to the enrichment of the committee’s work with their wealth  of experiences.
