Politics is regarded around the world as a game of interests. However, some politicians, like the Accountant General and Baraden Nasarawa, Dr. Musa Ahmed Mohammed, remind us that, for them, loyalty still ranks above every other consideration, including political interest. This was the impression Baraden Nasarawa created during a visit by the leadership of the Wadada Youth Ambassadors to his office in Lafia.
Baraden Nasarawa’s message was simple and direct. He said his support for Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s governorship ambition remains firm for two reasons: first, his loyalty to Governor Abdullahi Sule, and second, his personal commitment to Senator Wadada.
Indeed, one of the most striking aspects of Baraden Nasarawa’s remarks was his acknowledgment of Governor Sule’s role in his political journey. According to him, before his appointment as Accountant General, his name had faded from the political and social landscape of Nasarawa State. He credited Governor Sule with bringing him back into the limelight and restoring his political relevance.
That statement carries significant weight. In today’s politics, where alliances can change overnight, it is unusual to hear a public official openly attribute his political resurgence to another leader while publicly pledging to remain loyal. Whether one agrees with his position or not, Baraden Nasarawa left no room for doubt about where he stands politically, despite what his detractors may say or think.
His words were: “I will not be human if I said I will not do what A.A. Sule loves. I want to die as a human being.” The statement may sound dramatic, but it reflects the depth of his conviction. To Baraden Nasarawa, loyalty is more important than political convenience. He regards his loyalty to Governor Sule as a moral obligation.
Equally significant was Baraden Nasarawa’s revelation about a private pledge between himself and Senator Wadada. Recalling a meeting in Wadada’s office, he said they promised each other that if one succeeded, it would be as though both had succeeded. Such personal commitments often remain behind closed doors, but by making this pledge public, Baraden Nasarawa sought to reassure supporters that his backing for Senator Wadada is rooted in trust and a long-standing friendship rather than political calculation.
With Senator Wadada now flying the flag of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Baraden Nasarawa’s declaration that he would mobilize all his energy and influence in support of the campaign sends a clear signal to party faithful and political observers across Nasarawa State. It demonstrates that he intends to be not only an active participant in the campaign but also a determined force in securing Senator Wadada’s victory.
Of course, politics is a predictable game, yet with figures like Baraden Nasarawa, some level of consistency can still be expected. With Senator Wadada as the APC’s flag bearer, many supporters believe voters will confidently cast their ballots for him because of what they see as his fresh ideas, competence, and vision for the future of Nasarawa State.
As the 2027 governorship contest gathers momentum, Baraden Nasarawa’s remarks have added another chapter to the unfolding political story. They remind us that while strategy, negotiation, and party politics remain important, personal relationships and loyalty continue to shape political decisions in profound ways.
Baraden Nasarawa’s steadfast support for Governor Sule’s preferred successor, Senator Wadada, will certainly translate into electoral success. What is already clear, however, is that Baraden Nasarawa has publicly drawn his political line and has shown no intention of crossing it until Senator Wadada is sworn in as Governor of Nasarawa State in May 2027.
