Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has screened and confirmed 8 new commissioner nominees sent to it by Gov. Abdullahi Sule.
Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau Ph.D disclosed this after the screening of the nominees during the House proceedings in Lafia, today Wednesday.
The Speaker while congratulating them on their well deserved appointments, urged them to live above board, if finally sworn in.
He listed those confirmed to include Muhammad Habeeb Nagogo from Wamba LGA, Ahmed Yakubu Mohammed from Lafia LGA. and Hon. Mohammed Baba Shehu from Keffi LGA.
“Hon. Mohammed Iyimoga Oyigye from Obi LGA, Adamu Rabecca Kpadji from Wamba LGA, Nawani Aboki from Doma LGA, Jibril Abdullahi Ibrahim FCNA, from Nasarawa LGA. and Ashefo Daniel Paul, Ph.D from Lafia LGA, he said.
The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to communicate the House resolution to Gov. Abdullahi Sule for his further necessary action.
Earlier, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House moved a motion for the confirmation of the commissioner nominees.
Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba, the Minority Leader of the House seconded the motion.
The House unanimously screened and confirmed the commissioner nominees after lawmakers from their various LGAs spoke in their favour.
It would be reported that on Aug. 5, 2026, Speaker Jatau unveiled the eight commissioner-nominees submitted by Gov Sule for confirmation.
In a related development, the House has passed into first reading A Bill for a Law to Make Provision for the Establishment of College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Obi and for Other Purposes Connected Thereto.
The bill is being sponsored by Dr. Ibrahim Peter Akwe, member representing Obi One constituency and Chairman, House Committee on Agriculture.
Hon. Ibrahim Peter Akwe moved a motion for the bill to scale first reading and was seconded by Hon. Esson Mairiga.
The House unanimously passed the bill into first reading.
The Speaker of the House, Dr. Danladi Jatau slated 25th August, 2026 for the second reading of the bill.
