Rt. Honourable Ahmed Musa, Baraden Nasarawa, has been named the Nasarawa State coordinator of Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A), a new northern mobilisation platform backing President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election in 2027.
Musa is among coordinators appointed to oversee the group’s grassroots mobilisation across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), as the political establishment in the region moves to consolidate support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The group’s formation was announced in a statement issued in Abuja by its Head of Media Relations, Edwin Olofu. The statement said a formal unveiling of A4A is expected in Abuja in the coming days, followed by zonal and state-level inaugurations.
The mobilisation structure brings together former governors, serving and former senators, ministers, political leaders and grassroots stakeholders from across Northern Nigeria.
At the apex of the organisation is a 14-member Board of Trustees chaired by former Kano State Governor and former Education Minister, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau.
Former Yobe State Governor and Minister of Police Affairs, Senator Ibrahim Geidam, and former Plateau State Governor and Senator representing Plateau South, Simon Bako Lalong, will serve as deputies to the chairman.
Other members of the Board of Trustees include Ibrahim Kabir Masari, Senator Joshua Dariye, Brigadier-General Buba Marwa (rtd), Senator Aliyu Wamakko, Isa Yuguda, Reverend Jolly Nyame, Senator Atiku Bagudu, Yahaya Adoza Bello, Hajiya Aishatu Dukku and Hajiya Binta Ibrahim.
Former Jigawa State Governor and Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, will serve as secretary of the Board, assisted by Engineer Abubakar Gambo.
Badaru will also head the group’s National Directorate as Director-General, with responsibility for coordinating the organisation’s campaign strategy and activities across the 19 northern states and the FCT.
He will be supported by three deputy national coordinators representing the three northern geopolitical zones: former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema for the North-West, Yahaya Bello for the North-Central and Abdulrazaq Namdas for the North-East.
The group has also established specialised directorates covering finance and resource mobilisation, operations and logistics, communications and media, mobilisation, youth affairs, business and professional groups, religious communities, civil society, parliamentary mobilisation, research and strategy, ICT, creative and entertainment, traditional institutions, women, academia and students.
Among those assigned to the various directorates are Senator Sani Musa, Ali Nuhu, Hajiya Hadiza Bala Usman, Engineer Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Hajiya Iman Suleiman, Professor Umar Adam Katsayal and Abdulaziz Abdulaziz.
At the state level, the organisation has appointed coordinators across the North.
They include Honourable Alosius Babadoke for Adamawa, Dr Nura Manu Soro for Bauchi, Honourable Emmanuel Jime for Benue, Honourable Abubakar Inuwa Kari for Gombe, Honourable Aminu Sani Gumel for Jigawa, Honourable Ahmed Maiyaki for Kaduna and Abdullahi T. Gwarzo for Kano.
Others are Engineer Muttaqa Rabe Darma for Katsina, Honourable Shehu Sarki Kebbi-Jega for Kebbi, Professor Mohammed Yahaya Kuta for Niger, Honourable Yakubu Dati for Plateau, Honourable Isa Sadiq Acida for Sokoto, Ambassador John Musa for Taraba and Pharmacist Muhammed Jami’u A. Asuku for Kogi.
Musa will coordinate activities in Nasarawa State, while Nuruddeen Imam will oversee Kwara, Muhammed Goni Maulud will coordinate Borno, Sulaiman Isyaku will oversee Yobe and Lawal M. Liman will coordinate Zamfara.
Shitu Mohammed Kabir was named coordinator for the FCT.
According to the statement, the appointments are part of a broader effort to establish a coordinated political structure capable of reaching communities across the northern region.
The A4A leadership is expected to formally unveil the organisation in Abuja before proceeding with zonal and state inaugurations as preparations for the 2027 election cycle gather momentum.
