Nasarawa Accountant General Urges Tax Compliance for Sustainable Development


The Accountant General of Nasarawa State, Rt. Hon. Dr. Ahmed Musa Mohammed, has emphasized the importance of tax compliance in generating the resources required for sustainable development and the effective implementation of government programmes and projects across the state.
The Accountant General made the call during a working visit to the Corporate Headquarters of the Nasarawa State Internal Revenue Service (NSIRS) in Lafia yesterday, where he was received by the Executive Chairman of the Service, Alh. Ibrahim Sarki Adamu, FCNA, FCTI.
The visit coincided with the NSIRS Customer Service Week 2026, themed “The Extra Mile.”
Dr. Ahmed urged taxpayers across the state to continue supporting the government’s development efforts by fulfilling their tax obligations and cooperating with the NSIRS. He stressed that a strong culture of tax compliance is essential to providing the financial resources needed to sustain development initiatives and ensure effective delivery of public services.
According to him, revenue generated through taxation contributes significantly to the achievements and development initiatives of the administration of His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, FNSE, Executive Governor of Nasarawa State.
The Accountant General’s visit also highlighted the need for stronger collaboration among revenue-generating institutions in the state to improve the financial system and enhance internally generated revenue.
The engagement underscored the shared responsibility of government institutions and taxpayers in strengthening Nasarawa State’s revenue base and promoting sustainable economic development.
