Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has formally accepted his emergence as the preferred successor to Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, pledging continuity and transformative governance anchored on a six-point development framework known as the HEARTS Agenda.
Speaking at a press conference held at the NUJ press center in Lafia on Sunday, Wadada described the endorsement by Governor Sule as a “call to higher service,” expressing humility and gratitude for the confidence reposed in him. He noted that the governor’s decision, announced on April 16 during a meeting with political appointees, reflects a commitment to disciplined leadership and sustained development in the state.
Wadada also acknowledged the role of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, thanking the president for receiving him and other stakeholders during a recent visit to the Presidential Villa.
Addressing party leaders, traditional rulers, and fellow aspirants, the senator commended their contributions to a peaceful and democratic process. He called for unity and collaboration, emphasizing that collective efforts would be crucial in advancing the state’s development agenda.
Central to Wadada’s vision is the HEARTS Agenda — a policy framework built on six pillars: Human Capital Development, Energy and Mineral Resources, Agriculture and Green Economy, Rural and Urban Renewal, Trade and Investment, and Security. According to him, the initiative is designed to deliver inclusive growth and shared prosperity while consolidating the achievements of past administrations.
He highlighted that the agenda draws from the legacies of former leaders, including Abdullahi Adamu, Aliyu Akwe Doma, and Umar Tanko Al-Makura, alongside the current administration’s economic reforms encapsulated in the Nasarawa Economic Development Strategy (NEDS).
“This vision is not about starting anew; it is about finishing strong and scaling impact,” Wadada said, describing the HEARTS Agenda as a bridge between legacy and innovation.
He further outlined his commitment to delivering measurable results across the state’s three senatorial zones — Nasarawa South, North, and West — with a focus on expanding economic opportunities, strengthening institutions, and improving living standards.
Concluding his remarks, Wadada stressed that his ambition is rooted not in personal gain but in ensuring continuity, accelerating development, and sustaining the progress already recorded under Governor Sule’s leadership.
