Youth, Students Endorse Wadada for Nasarawa Governorship Bid

Youth and student groups in Nasarawa State have formally endorsed Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu for the 2027 governorship election, signaling growing political momentum ahead of the polls.
The endorsement was presented earlier on Thursday in Lafia, where Dr. Murtala Adogi Mohammed represented the senator in receiving a Certificate of Endorsement on behalf of the coalition. The event was organised under the auspices of the Office of the Senior Special Assistant on Youth and Students’ Affairs, led by Shuaibu Sani.
According to organisers, the endorsement reflects increasing alignment between the aspirations of young people in the state and the policy direction outlined in Wadada’s “HEARTS Agenda.”
In a related development, youth leaders also used the occasion to launch the Wadada Youth Support Committee, a platform designed to mobilise and coordinate youth participation in the build-up to the 2027 elections. The initiative was spearheaded by Abubakar Idris Adamu, alongside Sani.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Mohammed emphasised the importance of youth inclusion in governance, describing it as central—not symbolic—to the future of Nasarawa State.
He highlighted a proposed Nasarawa State Governance and Development Youth Fellowship as a key component of the HEARTS Agenda. The programme, he said, aims to recruit high-performing young individuals, deploy them across ministries and communities, and subject them to structured performance systems to build a new generation of public sector leaders.
Mohammed also linked youth engagement to improved security outcomes, arguing that sustainable peace depends not only on enforcement but also on inclusion and opportunity. He noted that empowering young people would strengthen community intelligence and reduce vulnerabilities.
Observers say the endorsement marks a significant boost for Wadada’s political ambition, as youth and student demographics remain a decisive force in the state’s electoral landscape.
With the formal backing and the launch of a youth mobilisation structure, Wadada’s supporters say preparations for the 2027 governorship race are already gathering pace.
