The political atmosphere across Nasarawa North Senatorial District has taken on a new intensity as Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada’s consultations ahead of the 2027 governorship race continue to attract massive endorsements from stakeholders, traditional rulers, and grassroots supporters.
From Akwanga to Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon, the message from political leaders and community stakeholders has remained consistent — Wadada is increasingly being positioned as the preferred successor to Governor Abdullahi Sule under the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The crescendo of that growing support was witnessed in Akwanga Local Government Area during the final leg of Wadada’s consultative tour, where thousands of supporters converged in a show of solidarity that observers described as one of the largest political gatherings in recent times within the zone.
Leading voices at the event interpreted the turnout as more than mere political enthusiasm; they described it as a declaration of readiness by the people to back Wadada’s governorship ambition both at the APC primary and in the 2027 general election.
Among those who spoke was the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Kwanta Yakubu, who assured the senator that the overwhelming support demonstrated by the people would ultimately translate into electoral victory.
Kwanta noted that many residents had become convinced by Wadada’s vision after listening to his developmental blueprint during earlier engagements across the district. According to him, the senator’s agenda aligns with the developmental trajectory already established by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
At the centre of Wadada’s campaign message is the “HEARTS Agenda,” a policy framework that encapsulates his priorities for the state. The acronym stands for Human Capital Development, Energy and Mineral Resources, Agriculture, Rural and Urban Development, Trade, and Security.
During meetings with stakeholders and residents, Wadada repeatedly emphasized that his ambition is not to dismantle the current administration’s policies but to consolidate and improve upon them.
He described Governor Sule’s achievements in infrastructure and governance as a strong foundation upon which future development could be built, citing projects such as flyovers, bypasses, and rural roads as transformative interventions that have reshaped the state’s landscape.
Wadada also made clear his intention to sustain political continuity within the APC, openly declaring support for Governor Sule’s anticipated move to the Senate after completing his tenure as governor.
In what many political observers view as a strategic message to the electorate, the senator consistently urged residents across the state to reject politics rooted in ethnicity and religion.
Speaking during a town hall meeting with stakeholders in Nasarawa Eggon, Wadada argued that modern governance requires competence, inclusiveness, and unity rather than divisive sentiments.
He stressed that no religion prohibits peaceful coexistence among diverse communities and warned that electing leaders without the necessary capacity could leave the state politically disadvantaged.
His remarks resonated strongly with prominent stakeholders, including former NNPCL Executive Director Alhaji Ishaku Abdullahi, Barrister Halilu Evulanza, and Mohammed Muluku, all of whom described ethnic and religious politics as outdated and counterproductive.
The consultations have also enjoyed strong backing from traditional institutions across Nasarawa State, further reinforcing Wadada’s growing political momentum.
In Nasarawa Eggon, the Aren Eggon, Justice Ahmed Ubangari Alaku I, conferred on the senator the traditional title of “Iyan Eggon” in recognition of his contributions to democratic development in the state.
At the palace of Chun Mada, Wadada was also conferred with the title of ‘Tunfafiyan Mada’ in recognition of his contributions to the development of the Mada Nation in particular, and Nasarawa State in general.
Both Aren Eggon and Chun Mada described the titles as fitting and well deserved and urged Wadada to prioritize the welfare of the people if elected governor in 2027.
The royal endorsement added another symbolic layer to Wadada’s expanding support base, especially within Nasarawa North, where traditional rulers continue to wield significant moral and cultural influence.
A similar reception awaited the senator in Wamba, where the Oriye Rindere, Justice Lawal Musa Nagogo, openly declared confidence in Wadada’s emergence as the next governor of Nasarawa State.
The monarch described the senator as a hardworking politician who had earned the right to seek the state’s highest office through years of dedication and public service.
At the palace of the Gom Mama, His Royal Highness Alhaji Mustafa B.Z. Adam also honoured Wadada with the traditional title of “Kaigaman Mama,” praising his leadership qualities and contributions to society.
The royal father further appealed to the senator to support the creation of a Mama Local Government Area if elected governor, reflecting the growing expectations communities are beginning to attach to Wadada’s aspiration.
Throughout the consultations, the senator has continued to highlight his legislative achievements and portray himself as a bridge-builder capable of uniting the diverse ethnic and political interests within Nasarawa State.
That message appeared to gain further traction when stakeholders from Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba unanimously endorsed his governorship ambition during a strategic meeting attended by former elected and appointed officials dating back to 1999.
The endorsement was seen by political analysts as a significant boost for Wadada ahead of the APC governorship primary, particularly because it came from influential figures with deep political roots across Nasarawa North.
For many supporters, the consultations are no longer merely exploratory meetings but demonstration of a formidable political movement ahead of 2027.
As the political season gradually gathers momentum and the APC governorship primary draws near, Wadada’s growing acceptance among traditional rulers, political stakeholders, and grassroots supporters is expected to prove decisive in shaping the outcome of the general election in Nasarawa State.
Indeed, whether we accept it or not, Wadada has emerged as a central figure in the unfolding battle for the Nasarawa Government House ahead of the 2027 elections.
The endorsements and massive crowds witnessed during the consultation tours across both Southern and Northern Nasarawa State will undoubtedly translate into an electoral victory for Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu.
