Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate for the 2027 election in Nasarawa State, has urged his supporters across the state to remain peaceful and resist every form of provocation or indecent conduct from political opponents as campaigns for next year’s election draw closer.
Wadada made the appeal on Monday when he met with commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants serving under Governor Abdullahi Sule at his campaign headquarters in Lafia as part of ongoing consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He stressed that the campaign should be devoid of rancour, urging his supporters, whether in government or outside it, to conduct themselves with decorum and avoid responding to provocation.
“Let us not fight, let us not insult. I have said all that I have said,” Wadada told the gathering, calling for restraint and decency among his supporters.
The APC candidate said the political contest should not degenerate into an exchange of insults, stressing that the primary objective should be to move Nasarawa State forward rather than engage political opponents in unnecessary verbal battles.
Wadada also appealed to party faithful and supporters across the state to remain calm and dignified throughout the campaign, regardless of the conduct of their opponents.
Speaking on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC candidate described the President as a leader whose wealth of experience remained unmatched among those aspiring to lead the country.
He cited Tinubu’s tenure as governor of Lagos State as evidence of his leadership capacity, saying the transformation of Lagos had earned the state recognition beyond Nigeria.
“We have seen, we have heard, we have felt, and we are seeing today, Lagos is a pride of not only Western Nigeria but Africa at large,” he said.
Wadada said Tinubu’s antecedents and vision placed him ahead of other presidential contenders, expressing confidence in his leadership.
On Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration, Wadada described the government as one built on teamwork, discipline and measurable achievements.
He pledged that, if elected governor, his administration would consolidate on the foundation laid by Sule and other previous administrations rather than abandon existing projects and policies.
“Ours shall be a lubrication of legacies,” he said, explaining that his government would strengthen and modernise the state’s existing foundation to respond to contemporary challenges.
The APC candidate acknowledged that there might be political sentiments against the Sule administration but maintained that its achievements could not be denied.
“One will be the maddest of all mad to want to derail the state from the path A. A. Sule has put it on,” he said.
Wadada further described leadership as a responsibility centred on service, mentorship and guidance, rather than status or privilege.
“Leadership is not about raising shoulders. It is not about being on a high horse. A leader is a mentor. A leader is a guide. A leader is light,” he said.
He thanked the commissioners, special advisers and senior special assistants for their support and solidarity, assuring them that his administration would place emphasis on effective monitoring and evaluation.
According to him, performance would be regularly assessed to ensure that those who deliver results are recognised while shortcomings are identified and addressed.
