The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Nasarawa State for the 2027 general elections, Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, has announced Hon. Chief Michael Emmanuel Ombugadu, FCNA, Sardauna Ezzen, as his running mate and deputy governorship candidate.
Wadada made the announcement in a statement, describing the choice of Ombugadu as a move aimed at strengthening the APC ticket with experience, competence, integrity, inclusion and a commitment to public service.
According to the governorship candidate, Ombugadu brings more than three decades of experience in administration, public finance and community service to the ticket.
He said Ombugadu began his professional career at Ashaka Cement Plc before proceeding to serve at Isa Mustapha Agwai I Polytechnic, Lafia, and later at the Nasarawa State Pension Bureau, where he rose to the position of Director of Finance and Accounts.
Wadada said his running mate’s professional career had been defined by diligence, accountability and responsible stewardship.
Beyond his professional background, the APC candidate described Ombugadu as a grassroots politician whose political journey had been characterised by resilience, loyalty and commitment to the people.
He also cited Ombugadu’s decision to prioritise party and collective interests over personal ambition during recent political processes as evidence of his character and political maturity.
“Beyond the positions he has held, I value the man: his humility, his loyalty, his understanding of our people, and his commitment to service,” Wadada said.
The APC candidate said the ticket was designed to reflect the diversity of Nasarawa State and address the aspirations of residents across the state’s 13 Local Government Areas, 18 Development Areas and 147 wards.
Wadada pledged that his campaign would focus on unity, issue-based politics and the development of the state.
“Our message remains clear: One Nasarawa. One people. One future,” he said.
He promised that the campaign would seek to unite rather than divide the people, focus on issues rather than sentiments, and prioritise the development, security, prosperity and dignity of Nasarawa State.
Wadada congratulated Ombugadu on his emergence as running mate and expressed confidence that the partnership would strengthen the APC’s preparations for the 2027 governorship election.
“With Chief Michael Emmanuel Ombugadu by my side, we are even more prepared for the task ahead,” he said.
“The work begins.”
